Welcome to Coaching Lancashire

Lancashire Sport Partnership is one of four County Sport Partnership using a data management system in the North West.

Lancashire Sport Partnership hopes to develop Coaching Lancashire into a 'one stop shop' information and management tool, for coaches and employers of coaches in the North West.

This information and management tool will help us build a picture of existing coaching being undertaken, and the existing and future needs of coaches and coach employers in the North West.

Who should register on this site?

We are looking for the following people and organisations to register on this site

  • A coach looking for qualifications and training opportunities
  • A coach looking for employment
  • A coach who wants to keep informed of developments in coaching/ local events
  • An organisation looking to make use of a volunteer or a paid coach

  • As a result of Future Jobs Funding provided by the Department of Work and Pensions, and in partnership with National Skills Academy, the Amateur Swimming Association are now recruiting Trainee Aquatic Assistants all over the country.

    What you’ll be doing...

    The Amateur Swimming Association (the ASA) is the national governing body for Swimming. The ASA is working with local authorities, leisure centres and swimming pools to encourage people come back to swimming.

    Swimming is the highest participation sport in the UK but there are many people who still don’t swim even though they might like to. Our Trainee Aquatic Assistants will play a key role in encouraging all ages and abilities of the community to visit their swimming pool and take part in free swimming lessons, aquatic fitness sessions and much more.

    They will be part of a team helping to improve the experience of customers visiting the pool and ensuring that they make the most of the facilities on offer.

    In addition to this you will get the chance to become a lifeguard and carry out other duties for your Centre.

    What training you’ll receive...

    Trainee Aquatic Assistants will be provided with high quality training to equip them to do their job well.

    The courses on offer are:

    • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification – enables you to be a lifeguard
    • ASA Level 1 Teaching Aquatics – enables you to assist in swimming and aquatic instruction
    • Level 2 Employment Awareness in Sport and Active Leisure – helps you understand the industry you work in
    • Customer Services – on line training to help you understand customers needs and exceed their expectations
    • SportsCoach UK Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop – gives you the knowledge to ensure kids are kept safe in Sport
    • Effective Communication and Feedback – enables you to be enhance your communication skills
    • Introduction to the strokes workshops – enhances the teaching skills you will learn in Level 1 Teaching Aquatics
    • Free Swimming awareness – helps you to understand the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ of increasing participation in swimming and more....

    Your opportunities...

    You will work for the ASA, placed within one of our partners’ Leisure Centres or Swimming Pools for 6 months working 25 hours per week. After that time we hope that you will have made a real positive impact at your Centre.

    They may give you the opportunity of permanent employment or for some the chance of entering into an apprenticeship scheme which will provide advanced training and even greater prospects.

    Whatever happens at the end of the 6 months contract you will have gained the skills and experience to take you further on in your career.
