As a result of Future Jobs Funding provided by the Department of Work and Pensions, and in partnership with National Skills Academy, the Amateur Swimming Association are now recruiting Trainee Aquatic Assistants all over the country.
The Amateur Swimming Association (the ASA) is the national governing body for Swimming. The ASA is working with local authorities, leisure centres and swimming pools to encourage people come back to swimming.
Swimming is the highest participation sport in the UK but there are many people who still don’t swim even though they might like to. Our Trainee Aquatic Assistants will play a key role in encouraging all ages and abilities of the community to visit their swimming pool and take part in free swimming lessons, aquatic fitness sessions and much more.
They will be part of a team helping to improve the experience of customers visiting the pool and ensuring that they make the most of the facilities on offer.
In addition to this you will get the chance to become a lifeguard and carry out other duties for your Centre.
Trainee Aquatic Assistants will be provided with high quality training to equip them to do their job well.
The courses on offer are:
You will work for the ASA, placed within one of our partners’ Leisure Centres or Swimming Pools for 6 months working 25 hours per week. After that time we hope that you will have made a real positive impact at your Centre.
They may give you the opportunity of permanent employment or for some the chance of entering into an apprenticeship scheme which will provide advanced training and even greater prospects.
Whatever happens at the end of the 6 months contract you will have gained the skills and experience to take you further on in your career.
We hope you will want to come and work with us and are waiting to hear from you!
