Ridgewood Community High School is a secondary special school for up to 150 pupils with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities.
As part of Phase 2 of Lancashire's Building Schools for the Future programme Ridgewood moved to its current location in September 2009, co-located with Sir John Thursby Community College, Eastern Avenue, Burnley. The enhanced facilities of both schools puts Ridgewood in an ideal position to develop its extended schools provision and further develop community use through initiatives as Aiming High for Disabled Children.
The successful candidate would help to develop the provision: after school clubs, holiday activities, parent support groups and sports activities for both pupils at Ridgewood and for those with special educational needs and disability across the school community of Burnley.
Although advertised as a 4 term temporary post, it is envisaged that part of the role would be to look for funding opportunities, through grants and initiatives as Aiming High to ensure sustainability.
